REMINDER: How to report a vehicle theft

Community Police Officer Kevin Williams recently reached out to local community associations on the issue of vehicle thefts and asked us to share this information with residents.

“It has been brought to my attention that there are concerns about an increase in thefts from vehicles in the Stittsville area over the last few months.  A review of reported incidents to the Ottawa Police Service from September 1, 2017 to November 30, 2017 indicates that there have only been 6 reported thefts from vehicles incidents in the Stittsville area.  Two of these incidents occurred in the month of November.   It may be possible that theft from vehicle incidents in the area are not being reported to police.

“I was hoping that all Stittsville Community Associations can assist the Ottawa Police Service in sending out a message to residents in the area encouraging them to report crimes and suspicious activity to the police. Reporting incidents to the police is important and provides us with the information needed to identify crime patterns and assists us in addressing crime in the community.”
