Misc updates: Brigatine Park, Maestro Park and dog waste

Thanks to Jenny Guth for sending along this update from Shad Qadri re: Brigatine Park:

“Traffic staff have conducted a site investigation on Brigatine between Huntmar and Khamsin. As a result of that review, a work order has been created to install two new Playground Ahead signs. The first one will be onto Brigatine eastbound, between #409 and #411. The second one will be onto Khamsin northbound, across the street from #502 and #504. A timeline was not provided but please be assured they are now ordered and when ready will be put into the queue for installation.”

One our our residents was curious about the plans for Maestro Park, the soon-to-be built park at the west end of Campobello (140 Maestro Avenue, between Maestro Avenue and Maloja Way. Here’s what the city says is planned:

The City of Ottawa has prepared design drawings to illustrate the proposed development of a new parkette to be located in the Fairwinds North community within Stittsville. Once completed, the new 0.22 hectare park will provide the community with toddler and junior play structure equipment, swings, a sand play area, pathways, planting and other standard park amenities. Amenities include Toddler and junior play structure equipment; swings; sand play area; benches, asphalt pathways, evergreen and deciduous trees.

And finally, new signage and more frequent garbage pick-up is coming for Bandmaster Park, where the splash pad is located.
The city is installing signs on the garbage cans at park reminding dog owners not to drop their dog waste in the bins there. (You’re supposed to take it home.) City crews will now be emptying the bins at Bandmaster near the splash pad twice per week.
